New patients

We welcome all patients new to the area.

To join the Practice please call at the practice to book an appointment and collect Form GMS1 (Family Doctor Services Registration) to complete and bring along to your first appointment

Appointments

We operate a mixture of same day face to face, phone consultations and pre-bookable appointments.

All conditions will be signposted to the most appropriate Clinician by our trained team of call handlers.

Urgent Appointments

Urgent cases will be seen on the day by the most appropriate and available physician.

Please note that children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Patients who are deemed to be eligible for an urgent appointment will be offered a ‘same day’ consultation. This could be in person, by phone or via another means.

Our practice

Ashgrove Medical Centre’s practice team consists of experienced and knowledgeable doctors, nurses and professionals who provide the highest quality of care.

We also have a strong network of other healthcare professionals and organisations that we can refer our patients to.

With patients’ needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations. Thank you for choosing Ashgrove Medical Centre.

Urgent Appointments

If you feel you urgently need to be seen on that day, you will need to telephone the surgery in the morning between 8.00 am and 11.30 am with your request.

The Reception staff will take your details and the reason why you want an appointment. This information helps us to prioritise more urgent cases. You may be contacted by a healthcare professional i.e. a nurse or a doctor to discuss your problem. If appropriate an appointment will be offered directly based on initial information or following discussion with a healthcare professional; your problem may also be managed over the phone.

Cancellations

If you are unable to keep your appointment for any reason, please let us know at the earliest opportunity.

We are a very busy Practice and it is sometimes difficult to allocate an appointment. This can lead to the frustration for fellow patients who cannot book to see a GP, whilst at the same time, some patients are failing to turn up for appointments they have booked in advance. Did Not Attend (DNA) appointments are recorded and we monitor DNA rates of Patients.

Patients who DNA on a regular basis may be removed from our list.

Health advice and self-help

Flu vaccinations

The flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from the flu.

Please enquire about having yours.

Self-help and self-care

We are limited in the number of appointments we can offer, so we need to prioritise those who are most in need.

Perhaps self care may be a better option for you?

Online symptom checker

NHS 111 has created a convenient and user-friendly online symptom checker that can potentially help you treat minor conditions on your own without the need to see a GP.

Online services

Online admin forms

Current patients of the centre can use our range of online forms to aid in administrative tasks and saving you time.

Common illnesses

Some conditions occur frequently and are not serious. You will not need to come into surgery, but you can instead administer self-care.

Reviews and procedures

We have a range of reviews and clinics to help our patients in specialist areas.

Paid private services
